Exhibition - Losing my Religion - part 1 - Control

Exhibition abstract

From an early age I have been intrigued and confused by the concept of religion, fond memories of being mesmerized by the Greek mythologies and ancient stories of old. Then later, brought up on the ingrained doctrines of Christianity, the one God, the only God, the God that is everywhere, always watching you, wherever you are and whatever you are doing.

With today’s accelerating progression of technology, is there the same correlation between religion and technology? Could this new technological hold on the masses be the successor, and the beginning to a New world of Control?

With This rapid advancement of technology are we embarking on or already living in an uncontrollable George Orwell’s 1984 sinister surveillance state or an Aldous Huxley’s Brave New World’s vacuous consumerist culture? Or both!!

Reflecting on the current events of 2020, could this year be the start of these entwined dystopia’s?

Consumed by our ‘advanced’ World distractions, are we ‘masking’ the real issues? The pollution and neglect of the planet, the rape of its resources, our abuse of its oceans, wars, famine...the list goes on.

We have made ourselves the possessors of and beneficiaries to technology, but sadly this comes with consequences.

The following Art portfolio is a personal overview, expressing my thoughts on the controlling aspects of religion and technology combined, along with the sinister future.
